Prince Harry settles with Murdoch press

Prince Harry reached a settlement with Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers (NGN), receiving an apology for the unauthorized acquisition of information, as reported by Reuters. The company behind The Sun and The Times acknowledged violations against both his late mother, Princess Diana, and his privacy. NGN agreed to pay substantial compensation, rumored to be in the tens of millions of pounds. They also admitted to illegal activities by The Sun and phone hacking by the now-defunct News of the World. This settlement marks the first time the publisher has recognized illegal activities at The Sun and concludes a long legal battle. The settlement was confirmed as a ‘monumental victory’ outside court, stating that ‘today’s lies have been exposed and the cover-up revealed, proving no one is above the law.’
