Minister backs university in Palestinian protest row
Denmark’s Education and Research Minister Christina Egelund supports the University of Copenhagen’s decision to remain neutral in the Gaza conflict. The university had earlier denied demands from pro-Palestinian demonstrators to acknowledge and condemn Palestinian deaths. Even though their demands were rejected, the students have been assured they can freely express their views on campus. Students against Occupation have set up a tent camp at the university, stating they will stay until their demands are met. The peaceful protests in Denmark contrast with the violent clashes and arrests at similar demonstrations in the USA. No such severe incidents have occurred in Denmark.
