Report on Danish frigate postponed indefinitely

The Danish Defense Command’s report on the frigate ‘Iver Huitfeldt’s’ deployment in the Red Sea has been postponed indefinitely, as informed by Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen to the parliamentary parties. The exact rescheduling date is unclear. The need for extended coordination between the Naval Command and the Defense Ministry’s Materiel and Procurement Agency was cited as the reason for the delay. Acting Chief of Defense Michael Hyldegaard emphasized the importance of verifying the information before submission. The request for a report followed last week’s public disclosure by defense media Olfi about the ‘Iver Huitfeldt’ experiencing system failures and defective ammunition during a drone attack on March 9. Although an initial report was quickly provided and subsequently leaked, revealing ministry awareness of the frigate’s technical faults, a revised report with unspecified changes was later submitted to the minister. The final decision on the matter was expected this week but has now been postponed.
