Danish heist drama selected for Toronto festival

The film ‘De lydløse’ depicting the largest heist in the history of Denmark has been selected for the Toronto International Film Festival, where it will have its world premiere. Announced by Zentropa, one of the film’s production companies, ‘De lydløse’ will feature in the festival’s ‘Discovery’ program dedicated to emerging directors. Directed by Frederik Louis Hviid, who made his directorial debut with ‘Shorta’ at the Venice Film Festival in 2020 and recently received a Robert Award in 2024 for the TV series ‘Huset,’ Hviid expressed pride and honour for the film’s premiere. Based on the true story of the 2008 theft from Dansk Værdihåndtering by a group of men who escaped with 70 million kroner, the film stars Gustav Dyekær Giese and Amanda Collin. ‘De lydløse’ will be released in Danish cinemas on October 31 after its international debut in Toronto, which runs from September 5 to 15.
