Danish parliament passes budget with free school meals

The Danish Parliament has adopted the financial budget for 2025, wherein 94 members voted in favor and 16 against. The budget was agreed upon at the end of November between the government, SF, and The Radicals, and includes a trial scheme for free school meals for over 20,000 students from August 2025. Not all students will benefit from this program, but both public and private schools can apply to participate. The budget also establishes a green craftsman tax credit, allowing for a tax deduction on labor costs for energy renovations and climate-proofing homes. An existing service deduction is expanded, now covering more services such as tree felling, appliance repairs, and lawn establishment, with an increased deduction limit from 11,900 to 17,500 kroner for 2025, which equates to around a 4500 kroner saving if fully utilized.
