Danish Ppl’s Party wants Parliament to go to Taiwan

In response to Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen’s trip to China, the Danish People’s Party wants to arrange a trip to Taiwan for Parliament, according to Politiken. “There is no doubt that it is of huge importance to many in Taiwan that they experience support from the free world. But it also sends a signal to our American allies that the current Danish government is on a wrong China course,” Anders Vistisen, the party’s foreign policy spokesman, told Politiken. The Danish People’s Party will arrange the trip in cooperation with the Taiwanese trade delegation in Denmark, and it is thus not an official parliamentary trip. Anders Vistisen wants to invite Parliament’s foreign policy spokesmen for the trip, but in Politiken he is receiving a harsh rejection from several parties. /ritzau/
