Danish star nominated for an Emmy for Blixen role

Actress Connie Nielsen has been nominated for Best Actress at the International Emmy Awards, Viaplay wrote in a press release Wednesday. She is nominated for her role as Karen Blixen in the TV series “The Dreamer – Karen Blixen Comes into Being”. The International Emmy Awards are given to international television productions outside the U.S. market and will take place in New York City on November 20. The series is inspired by Karens Blixen’s life and letters and takes place in the 1930s, when she returned home to Denmark after many years in East Africa. The TV series and Connie Nielsen have already received great recognition abroad. It was selected as the first Danish series ever at the Cannes International Series Festival in April this year. In addition, earlier this year, Connie Nielsen was presented with the Rungstedlund Prize by Queen Margrethe for her representation of Karen Blixen. /ritzau/
