At least 5.5 billion kroner to be cut in the state budget

The Danish government plans to cut at least 5.5 billion DKK in state administration by 2030, equivalent to 6,500 full-time positions if only staff cuts were considered. Finance Minister Nicolai Wammen states that government bureaucracy has grown, necessitating these cuts. The savings will help finance increased spending in areas like defense. Wammen notes that more investments in defense and police will result in more jobs. Culture Minister Jakob Engel-Schmidt hopes there won’t be 6,500 fewer employees by 2030. Economic Minister Stephanie Lose states the defense and police sectors will require significant resources. Morten Skov Christiansen from Fagbevægelsens Hovedorganisation criticizes the lack of specific task eliminations tied to the cuts. Sara Vergo from Djøf highlights concerns over maintaining quality when reducing staff.
