Danish parliament allocates 850M to homeless and abuse victims

A broad majority in the Danish Folketing has reached an agreement to allocate around 850 million kroner to society’s vulnerable groups. The deal involving the SSA reserve affects homeless citizens with addictions and mental health issues, victims of violence, people with disabilities, and adopted individuals. About 100 million kroner is dedicated to homeless individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric problems, while 65 million kroner supports victims of violence through initiatives like ‘Lev Uden Vold’. Funds will also improve education and employment opportunities for disabled people, and support for adoptees post-adoption. Social Affairs Minister Sophie Hæstorp Andersen acknowledges the absence of a sustainable funding model for civil society organizations. She plans to engage with these organizations and expects to negotiate a concrete model by spring 2025.
