Danish naval ship docked with engine issues
The Danish inspection vessel Ejnar Mikkelsen has been docked in Nuuk harbor since June 22 due to problems with one of its main engines and gear. Poul Primdahl of the Arctic Command mentioned that the vessel lost propulsion on June 20 and is awaiting spare parts for repair. Equipped with two engines, the ship was able to enter the port on its own. This incident differs from previous issues this year when both Ejnar Mikkelsen and its sister ship Lauge Koch faced problems with their power generators. The Knud Rasmussen-class patrol vessels, armed with a 76mm M/85-cannon, are designed to enforce sovereignty in Arctic waters. The first two ships, launched in 2008 and 2009, lack a functional Ceros fire control system, essential for precision targeting, rendering their cannons mainly symbolic. Repair timelines remain uncertain, but the required spare parts are expected to arrive by the end of the following week.
