Digitalization strategy to include tech education
Denmark’s new digitalization strategy encompasses 29 initiatives, including incorporating technology understanding into the school curriculum. Digitalization Minister Marie Bjerre announced the cross-party agreement, emphasizing investment in a digital future and the importance of understanding digital technology for society’s benefit. The strategy, backed by 740 million kroner through 2027, supports an effective, green transition. A significant share of the funding, 160 million kroner, is dedicated to technology education in primary schools, with details to be defined in a forthcoming school reform agreement. Concerns are raised by Dansk Industri about the potential for technology understanding to be an elective rather than a mandatory subject. The strategy also includes a regulatory ‘sandbox’ for guidance on new EU artificial intelligence regulations and 61 million kroner for artificial intelligence initiatives. Small and medium-sized enterprises will benefit from opportunities like borrowing robots for short-term use.
