Vice chairman of Danish Crown resigns

Thomas Kjær has resigned from his position as the vice-chairman of Danish Crown due to disagreements over the company’s direction. Two shareholders previously withdrew from a committee seeking to modernize the corporate structure, expressing a need for an external profile to lead as a board chairman instead of a farmer. Kjær’s departure is not related to the shareholders’ criticism, and he will continue as a supplier for Danish Crown. The company faces discontent from farmers over prices paid for their products and has had to close slaughterhouses and cut jobs due to fewer pigs being sent for slaughter in Denmark. Former chairman Erik Bredholt was succeeded by Asger Krogsgaard in November 2023, and a new CEO will soon be announced to replace Jais Valeur.
