Mayor and residents: Ban party buses from Copenhagen

Jakob Næsager, Copenhagen’s mayor for children and youth affairs, condemns party buses operating in central Copenhagen, criticizing them for being noisy, dirty, and disruptive. The number of party bus operators has significantly increased in recent years, leading to complaints from inner-city residents. Consequently, Copenhagen’s Residents’ Network has requested a ban on these buses in a letter to the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Transport, and the Copenhagen Police. While these buses, which often lack safety features and sell alcohol without a license, are seen as a problem, Frederiksberg’s Deputy Mayor Lone Loklindt suggests finding a balance and proper regulations, acknowledging that occasional street festivities should be manageable in a large city. The Danish Road Traffic Authority regulates party buses, but they were unavailable for comment due to summer holidays.
