DK contributes to EU ammunition purchase for Ukraine
The EU’s pledge to supply Ukraine with one million artillery shells in one year is a step closer. The Danish government has just decided to contribute DKK 100 million to the joint purchase of ammunition for Ukraine under the European Defence Agency, according to the Ministry of Defence writes in a press release. Ukraine has fired 155-millimetre shells almost nonstop at Russian forces, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has previously stressed the desire for support in the form of more ammunition. And this is precisely what the Danish contribution will help to ensure. Specifically, Denmark will be donating DKK 100 million to a joint European purchase of 155-millimetre artillery ammunition. “The Ukrainians are still in a situation where they are acutely short of artillery ammunition. We must do something about this,” says Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen in the press release. The artillery procurement project runs for eight years. The European Defence Agency is the contract holder and coordinates arms procurement. /Press Release Defence ministry/
