DK inflation stable

Consumer price growth was quite moderate in December. Figures from Statistics Denmark show that inflation in December was 0.7 percent year-on-year, which is 0.1 percentage points higher than in November. On the other hand, core inflation – which takes energy and commodity prices off the balance sheet – fell from 3.0 percent to 2.6 percent. And the latter is perhaps most relevant in a period when energy prices have fluctuated considerably, according to Allan Sørensen, Chief Economist at the Confederation of Danish Industries. “Core inflation is back below three percent for the first time since the start of 2022. It’s still a little too high, but the direction is definitely right,” he says. /ritzau/
