DK to join EU cooperation on military transports

In a move to make it easier to transport soldiers and military equipment across borders in the EU, Denmark is participating in the project on military mobility in the framework of the EU’s defence cooperation, Pesco, the Ministry of Defence writes in a press release. The work to make transport easier between national borders involves, among other things, a more efficient and flexible customs system when military corridors are created that cross borders. It is still to be clarified what the Danish contribution to the project will actually be, the Defence Ministry told Ritzau Bureau. “It is becoming more important these years that we can quickly and efficiently move military personnel and material. In the current security policy situation in Europe, for example, it is crucial to be able to receive reinforcements quickly and smoothly,” said Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen). Denmark has previously not been able to participate in the EU defense initiative Pesco because of the Danish defense opt-out. /Press Release Defence Ministry/
