Media: Randers Municipality cleared of landslide blame

In a leaked preliminary draft of a legal investigation, Randers Municipality is exonerated from responsibility regarding a landslide in Ølst, reports TV2 Østjylland. The draft specifically indicates that the municipality is not accountable for the landslide that occurred on Nordic Waste’s property in December 2023. The investigation found no basis for concluding that Randers Municipality committed errors or negligence in supervising Nordic Waste concerning landslide conditions. However, criticisms were made about deficiencies in handling Nordic Waste and the site. The report outlines measures taken by the municipality to mitigate landslide risks, which were deemed sufficient. Commissioned by the state, the investigation was conducted by Advokatpartnerselskabet Energi & Miljø, and the report remains provisional, awaiting feedback from the municipality. The landslide began on December 11, 2023, and Nordic Waste declared bankruptcy in January 2024.
