41-Year-Old Man in Pirate Case Granted Danish Residency

A 41-year-old Nigerian man involved in an attack on a helicopter from the frigate ‘Esbern Snare’ has been granted residence in Denmark, according to his lawyer. Initially denied permanent residency by the Danish Immigration Service, his application was later accepted by the Refugee Appeals Board. The 41-year-old, currently in an asylum center, is waiting for placement in a municipality. The Immigration and Integration Minister respects the board’s decision without intervening. Detained since November 2021 after a clash in the Gulf of Guinea with Danish forces, he was brought to Denmark for medical reasons, and Copenhagen City Court exempted him from punishment for his involvement in the incident.
