Seven kids temporarily lost at Danish beach

Last Tuesday, seven separate searches were conducted for children who temporarily disappeared from their families at the crowded Lakolk Beach on the island of Rømø, as reported by the Trygfonden in their weekly rescue summary. Rescuers, assisted by a coincidentally present training helicopter, found all kids safe. With approximately 50,000 visitors on a busy day, Trygfonden urges parents to be extra vigilant and keep close watch, particularly by the water. Lifeguard chief Anders Myrhøj suggests meeting spots and writing phone numbers on children’s arms. Last week saw about 7,500 interventions, including rescues from rip currents, known in Danish as ‘revlehuller’. Lifeguards also performed 181 first aid actions, and Trygfonden’s lifeguards will be stationed at 34 beaches until August 21.
