Bornholm native becomes new director of Folkemødet

Signe Saabye Ottosen has been appointed as the new director for the Association of Folkemødet, effective from January 1st. This was announced by the association that organizes the annual democratic festival in Allinge. She emphasizes the importance of protecting the democratic conversation, which she regards as the heart of community. Ottosen takes the lead after the previous director, Peter Christiansen, faced heavy criticism for inviting protesters to join the stage during disruptions at events. Employees also criticized Christiansen’s management. Ottosen, who recently served as acting director and resource manager at Campus Bornholm, is welcomed for her ability to bridge local and international perspectives, enhancing the uniqueness of the festival, says Deputy Chairman Carsten Grønning. The Folkemødet event, held in Allinge, features numerous political debates and conversations and is an annual occurrence.
