Break-ins decline before high season
In Q2 of 2024, reported house break-ins in Denmark fell by 4% compared to the same period last year, with 2,972 incidents recorded by Statistics Denmark. Despite this decrease, Richard Andersen, a former policeman and prevention expert at Bo Trygt, urges homeowners to remain vigilant during the holiday high season for burglaries. The first half of the year saw a 1% increase in break-ins due to a gloomier Q1. Andersen recommends proactive measures like securing doors and windows, trimming hedges, and coordinating with neighbors through the app ‘Nabohjælp’ to deter potential burglars. In 2023, Denmark reached a record low in reported burglaries since 1995.
