Elderly scammed by fake bankers in North Zealand

On Wednesday, several elderly residents in North Zealand were deceived by fraudsters posing as bank employees, resulting in the victims handing out their cards and PINs. North Zealand Police are currently receiving numerous reports of the elderly being conned by individuals claiming to be from banks or the police. In one case, an 80-year-old woman was scammed by a man claiming to be ‘Jan from Nordea,’ who convinced her to give her card and PIN to someone named ‘Hans’ at her residence. Other similar incidents involved an 84-year old woman from Hillerød and an 85-year-old from Gentofte, both then faced large withdrawals from their accounts. One case included an elderly woman being coaxed into handing over jewelry and cash. Some descriptions of the fraudsters have been provided. However, a 79-year-old woman became suspicious and avoided handing out her card.
