Legal adviser: Liability for Nordic Waste’s sister firm

The Legal Adviser (Kammeradvokaten) finds that DSH Recycling, a sister company of Nordic Waste, can be held responsible for the landslide near Ølst. As a result, the Danish government, announced by the Ministry of Environment, is claiming 50 million kroner from DSH Recycling, stated by Environment Minister Magnus Heunicke to TV 2. The company is currently undergoing reconstruction after it lost its income due to Nordic Waste’s bankruptcy. Furthermore, Randers Municipality plans to claim compensation for their emergency response costs, encouraged by the Legal Adviser’s assessment. A total of 250 million kroner was allocated by Randers Municipality to manage the landslide situation. The investigation by the Legal Adviser is ongoing to determine if Nordic Waste’s management, owners, or others can be held responsible for the damages from the landslide. No immediate danger to the houses in Ølst is reported, but environmental risks remain.
