Every second person wants to lower alcohol limit to 0.2
From July 1st, new drivers in Denmark must adhere to a blood alcohol limit of 0.2 in their first three years of driving, rather than the general 0.5. This new limit effectively enforces zero tolerance for alcohol consumption among novice drivers. A Voxmeter survey for Ritzau shows that 80% support this change, and nearly half of respondents think the 0.2 limit should apply to all drivers. Jakob Bøving Arendt from the Council for Safe Traffic emphasizes lowering limits historically recommended for young and heavy vehicle drivers due to their overrepresentation in accidents. While 48.2% of those surveyed favor lowering the limit for all drivers, Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen is against this, stating the current broader limit is manageable for most drivers.
