Scholz sees stronger NATO with new nordics
During a press conference in Stockholm, Nordics and Germany expressed support for Ukraine in the conflict with Russia. The meeting, attended by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, marked the first gathering of the countries as NATO members, following Sweden and Finland’s accession to the alliance. Frederiksen emphasized the necessity to increase aid to Ukraine, including ammunition donations, and highlighted the importance of unity between the Nordics and Germany. Scholz welcomed Sweden and Finland to NATO, noting it strengthens the alliance. Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre pointed out the proximity of the Russian threat. Denmark has committed to sending 19 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, expected to arrive by summer.
