Danish Passengers Survive Thailand Crash

Thirteen Danish nationals involved in a minibus accident in Thailand are no longer in critical condition. According to Karin Tranberg, director at SOS International, the patients have been moved from intensive care to a regular ward, indicating they are out of danger. Some of the youths are ready to be discharged while others need longer hospital stays. Efforts to return home involve evaluations by psychologists and doctors, and may require a companion. The survivors, aged between 19 and 25, were on a backpacking trip and the accident occurred as they journeyed from Chiang Mai to Pai, a mountainous route known for its sharp turns. The vehicle left the road for unknown reasons and plunged into a ravine; the driver died. Survivors have reported attempting to have the driver slow down, but without success.
