New book on Ahmed Samsam a hit online

A biography about Ahmed Samsam was released in bookstores on Monday, detailing his role in a major Danish intelligence scandal. However, the book had gone on sale online the previous Saturday night and quickly became a bestseller. Danmark’s largest online bookstore, Saxo, reported it as their top-selling book. Saxo’s press and communications manager, Lærke Jürs, attributes the interest to media coverage of the case. Samsam was convicted of terrorism in Spain six years ago and has since claimed he was an agent for Danish intelligence services, an assertion neither confirmed nor denied by the agencies. The interest in spy stories was previously seen with the popular book about the former FE chief, Lars Findsen, though Jürs notes that Samsam’s story is different. The level of sustained interest in Samsam’s biography is yet to be determined.
