FE: Russia ready for war in Europe by 2028
Denmark’s Defence Intelligence Service (FE) assesses that Russia could be prepared for a major war in Europe within five years if the Ukraine conflict stalls, and NATO does not accelerate its armament. If the Ukraine war freezes, Russia might mobilize for a local war within six months, and pose a threat to NATO countries in about two years. FE stresses this hinges on NATO’s armament pace. Russia has not planned a war against NATO but is preparing for the possibility, especially if it perceives NATO as weakened and doubts U.S. support. Before Trump’s presidency, he called for NATO European members to allocate five percent of GDP to defense.
