Danish Government loans Randers 375M for cleanup

The Danish government has granted a loan of 375 million Danish kroner to Randers Municipality for cleanup and restoration after a major landslide at Nordic Waste. The Environment Ministry announced the loan, which aims to address environmental challenges and financial strain the municipality faces due to the landslide. Environment Minister Magnus Heunicke stated the loan would support ongoing efforts to mitigate and repair landslide damages in Ølst. This loan supplements nearly 150 million kroner allocated by a parliamentary majority in March. Randers Municipality had urgently requested state assistance as the cleanup could potentially exhaust the municipal budget, as highlighted by the town’s mayor and chief executive.
