Denmark eyes more F-35 jets despite US alliance questions

Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen aims to buy more F-35 jets from the US amidst doubts about US support and its designs on Greenland. The jets, partly made in Europe, reflect US-European interdependence. Given Denmark’s size, Poulsen advocates a single-type fleet, expecting to expand beyond the 27 F-35s, with 11 already in Denmark and six more in the US. F-35s will soon handle interception duties, with rising Russian activity. Despite the US’s rocky relationship with Europe, evidenced by a recent aid halt to Ukraine for strategic gains, Poulsen trusts the F-35 partnership, crucial for Denmark and European security. He foresees no hindrance from the US in using or maintaining the F-35s. Upcoming Danish military investments, like the US-offered Patriot missile system, continue this interdependence.
