DSB reports triple-digit million profit in quarter

DSB, the Danish state railway company, reported a pre-tax profit of 226 million DKK in the second quarter, surpassing the previous year by 39 million DKK. In the first half of 2024, revenue increased by 13 percent, nearing 3 billion DKK, primarily due to a 5 percent increase in travel. Higher ticket prices also contributed to the revenue growth. As a result, management has raised the profit forecast for 2024 to an anticipated 300-400 million DKK, up from an expected break-even. CEO Flemming Jensen attributed the growth to attractive service offerings, emphasizing the need to maintain and build upon this trend. Additionally, there has been notable growth in train travel across the Great Belt, reaching the highest number of passengers since 1997. Punctuality for long-distance and regional trains improved, with 78.5 percent arriving within three minutes of schedule.
