Investor to gain majority in Aarhus Airport
Aarhus Airport is set to have a majority stake taken over by an unnamed international investor according to a recent announcement. Struggling to attract passengers, the airport has been in search of financial backing. The new investor will obtain 51% of the shares, resulting in Staus A/S leaving the shareholder group, while the municipalities of Aarhus, Syddjurs, and Norddjurs retain the rest. Aarhus mayor acknowledges the move as positive against the backdrop of economic struggles intensified by COVID-19. A previously granted loan of 200 million kroner to the airport by the city will be converted into shares. Last year’s deficit reached 83 million kroner. The takeover is pending approval by the three municipalities, expected by mid-January of the following year, after which the investor’s identity will be revealed.
