Split in Red-Green Alliance: Two leave the leadership

The Red-Green Alliance is experiencing continued division as two members, David Rønne and Lone Degn, have resigned from the executive committee following a dispute over the Middle East situation, Rønne confirms to DR. The party’s leadership stated that supporting organizations like the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), which participated in an attack against Israel on October 7, 2023, is not compatible with party membership. An official statement criticized party members who publicly undermine the party or continue to support terrorist organizations. Rønne says the move rejects efforts to foster internal dialogue. There was an alternative proposal to bridge the divided party, which was not chosen. The five-member executive committee is accountable to the main board, which stood by the majority’s decision statement. Rasmus Holme Nielsen, responsible for the executive committee, expressed regret over the members’ decision to resign and disputed Rønne’s account.
