Deloitte fined in tax evasion case
Deloitte has agreed to pay a fine of 40,000 Danish Kroner over a charge of violating tax control laws. Copenhagen City Court announced the agreement as the case was to begin Monday afternoon. The charges stated that a Deloitte consultant advised an employee at wind turbine manufacturer Vestas inaccurately on employee stock earnings between 2015 and 2016, resulting in a declared income that was around 1.9 million Kroner too low. Consequently, the state treasury missed out on over 700,000 Kroner in taxes. Deloitte paid the fine before the judge was able to assess the charges, and both the defense and the prosecution have declined to comment.
