Man charged for role in fatal traffic crash

A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged for his alleged failure to assist at the scene of a fatal head-on collision on the Hillerødmotorvej extension on Saturday morning, in which a couple and another person died. He is also charged with involuntary manslaughter, as he was reportedly racing with one of the victims. The accident claimed the lives of a 33-year-old man involved in the racing and a couple in the other car, whereas their school-aged children survived. The victims were all from the Hillerød area. Police were notified of the crash shortly after 6 a.m., which resulted in the closure of the motorway for several hours. In 2023, there were 162 traffic fatalities in Denmark, marking the third-lowest record since the 1930s.
