Elon Musk sues Ørsted and others for boycott

Elon Musk’s owned social media platform X is suing Danish energy company Ørsted for allegedly engaging in an illegal boycott of X, according to X’s CEO Linda Yaccarino. Other companies being sued include CVS Health, Mars, and Unilever as members of the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (Garm), under the World Federation of Advertisers, which is also named in the lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed in a Texas federal court and claims that Garm withheld ‘billions of dollars in advertising revenue’ from X, formerly known as Twitter. Ørsted has not immediately commented on the lawsuit. After Musk’s acquisition of the company in 2022, advertising revenues at X declined, as advertisers were hesitant to be associated with potentially harmful content. Legal experts suggest that proving an illegal boycott in court could be challenging for X.
