Copenhagen airports expect higher earnings

Copenhagen Airports anticipates increased profits in 2024 due to a surge in travel activity, with an expected passenger count of 29.8 million, up from the earlier estimate of 29 million. The airport expects to earn between 1.25 and 1.40 billion Danish kroner before taxes, an upward revision from the previous range of 1.15 to 1.35 billion. The company’s projection accounts for growth in passenger numbers, tempered by a higher share of transfer passengers. Yet the forecast remains uncertain, with geopolitical or economic downturns posing potential impacts. The airport anticipates a 24% rise in revenue for 2024, revised from the previously expected 20%. Analyst Jacob Pedersen points to a spike in travel desire partly driven by falling ticket prices, with Copenhagen Airport benefiting from both increased passenger volumes and higher rates. Summer traffic matched pre-pandemic amounts despite fewer flights, attributed to airlines operating larger, more efficient aircraft and more effectively filling seats.
