Queen Mary to visit Amazon Rainforest

Queen Mary will officially visit Brazil next week to focus on Danish-Brazilian collaboration, including combating violence against women. During the trip from October 2nd to 5th, she will visit the northern city of Manaus and the capital, Brasilia, accompanied by the Minister of Climate, Energy, and Utilities, Lars Aagaard. The goal is to strengthen the partnership with Brazil, especially in sustainability, biodiversity, and climate. The Queen will explore the Amazon Rainforest and its river systems, as well as the Cerrado savanna. Denmark previously pledged a significant contribution to the Amazon Fund to help reduce deforestation in the vast South American forest. The Queen’s agenda also includes meetings with UN Environment Programme (UNEP), where she is a patron, and discussions on gender equality and anti-violence efforts with women leaders and representatives from ministries and UNFPA.
