Family law house criticized for data breach

The Danish Data Protection Agency criticized the Agency of Family Law for insufficient data security due to unauthorized disclosure of protected personal information. The incidents include the sharing of protected names, addresses, and locations of individuals at crisis centers, reported in 28 data security breaches from January 6 to June 30, 2023. Often, information was disclosed to the opposing party in the case, normally the reason for the protection or crisis center stay. Human error due to employee inattentiveness is cited. The Family Law House had received serious criticism and an order in 2021 and 2022 to reduce such risks. The Data Protection Agency will closely monitor the Agency of Family Law and has requested detailed information on future breaches to mitigate similar incidents. The Family Law House, established in 2019, handles cases involving family matters, especially parental custody, residence, and visitation arrangements.
