Employment minister told king about Danish model
Denmark’s minister for employment, Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen, Monday visited Belgium’s King Philippe. She told this in the EU Council building in Brussels, where she was attending a meeting of the Council of Ministers. “The Belgian king and government have asked that we have a meeting where they learn more about the Danish model and how our cooperation with the social partners works,” Halsboe-Jørgensen said prior to the visit. The meeting between the Danish minister and the King as to take place after the EU Council of Ministers meeting. In addition to the two, the Belgian Minister for Economic Affairs and Labour, Pierre-Yves Dermagne, and three regional ministers were to participate.
According to Halsboe-Jørgensen, what makes Denmark special is that the social partners in Denmark have a great responsibility in areas that are legally determined in other countries. This translates into a stable labour market where people feel heard, the minister says. “There is a greater degree and sense of responsibility for the decisions and developments that take place,” she said. /ritzau/
