EP – Climate agreement
The European Parliament has reached an agreement with the Council of Ministers on a climate agreement that, according to the European Commission’s calculations, will reduce global warming by 0.1 degrees by the year 2100, EP Nikolaj Villumsen told Ritzau Thursday. The agreement, which the Red-Green Alliance’s MEP has helped negotiate, includes a ban on F-gases. F-gases are greenhouse gases that are up to 25,000 times more climate-damaging than CO2. Denmark has long had stricter legislation, but the EU has lagged behind. “This is a significant improvement for the climate we have landed today. There is no doubt that this is going to reduce global warming. “I’m extremely proud that we’ve reached our goal,” said Villumsen. /ritzau/
