The European Commission is adjusting the phasing out of the temporary rules for state aid to companies in connection with higher costs due to the war in Ukraine, according to a press release. The measures, which allow support for high energy prices and heating, will be extended by six months until June 30, 2024. “With this adjustment, member states can maintain their support during the coming winter as a safety net if some businesses are still affected by the economic imbalance created by Russia’s war in Ukraine,” the commission writes.
The Commission is also raising the ceiling for the amount of State aid companies can receive under section 2.1 of the rules on “limited aid amounts”. For companies in the agricultural sector, it has increased from DKK 1.9 million to DKK 2.1 million, companies in the fisheries and water culture sector DKK 2.2 million to DKK 2.5 million, and for companies in other sectors, the ceiling is now DKK 16.8 million from DKK 14.9 million before. Support to cover energy costs may only be granted if the costs are significantly higher than before the energy crisis. /ritzau/
