EU President Charles Michel visited Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, on Tuesday. Here he said that Ukraine continues to get closer to the EU. “You are fighting for our common values and future. I firmly believe that our future is safer with Ukraine in the European Union. Congratulations to both of you on the reforms you are implementing. You know it’s important to get ready for EU membership,” Michel told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Moldovan President Maia Sandu in a video on X. Earlier this month, the European Commission released its country report, which showed progress towards EU membership. The Commission recommends opening accession negotiations for both Ukraine and Moldova. /ritzau/Reuters/
