The EU institutions have agreed on a Cyber Resilience Regulation to set the framework for cybersecurity requirements for products with digital elements. Danish Morten Løkkegaard, chief negotiator in the European Parliament’s Committee on the EU’s Internal Market, thinks tighter security is positive. “The new legislation is a necessary step to protect EU citizens and our businesses. – More and more products will be connected to the internet in the future, and this creates vulnerabilities if security is not in order. Therefore, we are now making sure to raise the level of safety on everything from sensors in industry to refrigerators in the home,” he says. The regulation will cover all products connected either directly or indirectly to another entity or network. /ritzau/
