Google is seemingly about to receive a fine of 2.4 billion euro if the European Court follow the  recommendation of the Advocate General, who has recommended that the European Court of Justice upholds the fine of EUR 2.4 billion imposed on Google. The fine was imposed because the European Commission believes that Google used its dominant position to favour its own shopping service, Google Shopping. The recommendation of the Advocate General is not binding, but does carry weight. And it is often followed by the European Court of Justice. The case began in 2017 when the European Commission found that Google had prioritised the results from Google Shopping when Internet users used Google to search. /ritzau/
