Eye injuries New Year’s Eve
On New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Night, the eye departments in Denmark’s hospitals treated 25 people with eye injuries, according to Ulrik Correll Christensen, chief physician at the eye department at Rigshospitalet. He has collected figures from all over the country. The number of eye injuries is at the same level as in previous years, but the injuries have been more serious than usual. “Five patients have suffered severe eye injuries where vision is probably completely lost in one eye, and it will most likely be necessary to completely remove it,” he says. The injured are almost exclusively men. One of the 25 injured is a woman. /ritzau/
