Danish exports to US soar, uncertain future

Denmark’s exports of goods and services to the USA in the first nine months of the year reached 251 billion DKK, which is 44 billion DKK more than the same period last year, according to statistics from Danmarks Statistik. Tore Stramer, chief economist of Dansk Erhverv, described the growth as unprecedented. The rise in exports is partly attributable to a significant increase in production from Danish-owned factories in the USA. Moreover, large Danish companies have expanded their physical presence in the US recently. The election of Donald Trump as President brings uncertainty, as his threats to impose tariffs on European and Chinese goods could potentially lead to a trade war, affecting the Danish economy which could be weakened by up to 85 billion DKK, says Allan Sørensen, chief economist at Dansk Industri.
