DSV preps giant bid for German rival

Danish transport giant DSV is reportedly preparing a bid for German competitor DB Schenker, potentially surpassing 100 billion Danish kroner, making it the largest deal in Denmark’s history. According to the business newspaper Børsen, sources close to the confidential process claim DSV has enlisted major banks HSBC and BNP Paribas for advisory on the bid. Owned by the state-run German railway company Deutsche Bahn, DB Schenker is the world’s fourth-largest transport and logistics firm. An acquisition would place DSV at the top of the industry. Earlier this month, Maersk’s CEO mentioned considering a bid for DB Schenker, which officially went up for sale at the end of 2023. Interested buyers were expected to come forward by mid-January. DSV has not commented on the potential acquisition, in line with its policy.
