Vanopslagh’s prime minister ambition
During a debate at the Social Liberals’ event, Alex Vanopslagh of Liberal Alliance admitted dreaming of becoming prime minister, a position he’s not officially seeking. Contrary to Vanopslagh, panelists Finance Minister Nicolai Wammen and Martin Lidegaard, the Social Liberals’ leader, don’t aspire for the role. Wammen humorously prioritized remaining finance minister, while Lidegaard said ‘not yet.’ Wammen pointed out the blue bloc’s lack of a prime ministerial candidate, which Vanopslagh doesn’t see as problematic, suggesting voter trust should guide the choice at elections. Despite admitting to take the prospect more seriously in a recent book and actively preparing for post-election chances, Vanopslagh sees openly running for the position as unlikely, focusing instead on achieving influence. Liberal Alliance is polling strongly within the blue bloc, behind only the Social Democrats and Green Left.
