Danish minister decries Swedish crime issue

Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard expresses serious concern about young Swedes suspected of involvement in attempted murders and possession of firearms in Denmark, describing the situation as deeply unacceptable. The minister emphasizes that Danish police are aware and closely cooperating with Swedish authorities, and plans to meet with top law enforcement officials to discuss whether the police need more tools. A 16-year-old Swedish boy has been arrested following a Copenhagen shooting, and a 17-year-old Swedish boy was detained in Kolding after a shooting incident. Police inspector Torben Svarrer says Swedish youth are being hired by Danish criminals to commit serious crimes in Denmark. Criminologist David Sausdal highlights the use of social media for recruiting these ‘mercenaries.’ The digitalization of gangs poses a significant challenge for police, with gang members operating as freelancers online.
